Mostafa Mohamed on teammates after Zamalek Champions League victory over Raja Casablanca

Zamalek hitman Mostafa Mohamed has congratulated his teammates for defeating Raja Club Athletic in the CAF Champions League semifinal with a final against rivals Al Ahly set late this month.  

Zamalek have set a historic final showdown in the Champions League against arch-rivals Al Ahly for the first time ever after defeating Morocco’s Raja with 4-1 score line on aggregate.

Zamalek had obtained a first leg advantage after defeating Raja 1-0 in Casablanca with Achraf Bencharki’s winner.

The second leg game was postponed twice with the first one coming due to the discovery of 16 covid-19 cases among the Raja squad.

The clash was then scheduled to take place on 1st of November then it was moved once again to November 4.

“We congratulate ourselves and Zamalek fans. I am happy we defeated a team like Raja, they were a tough side and we respected them. God rewarded us for that,” Mohamed told beIN Sports.

“Pacheco told us at half time to not let their defenders build up with ease. Raja opened the play by the end of the game because they had nothing to lose and that’s why they conceded goals.”

The 22-year-old forward scored twice for his team in the game to secure qualification to the final.

Zamalek’s victory over Raja meant a Cairo derby against Al Ahly will take place in the Champions League final for the first time in history on November 27.
