Zamalek complete signing of former defender Hamdi Nagguez from Esperance de Tunis

Zamalek are in preparations for defending the Egyptian Premier League title and making huge impact in next season’s Caf Champions League.

While achieving those two targets is not easy, bringing top talents can help to close in on their Egyptian Premier League title and win the African inter club football ambitions.

They have already begun their transfer activities ahead of next season and have finally added to their ranks Hamdi Nagguez who once played for the Cairo giants.

The Egyptian champions announced return of the Tunisian international right-back on Tuesday morning after successfully passing through the formalities.

Nagguez terminated his contract with Zamalek at the start of 2020 over unpaid wages. Then, after a brief loan spell in Lithuania with FK Suduva, he returned to his home country with Esperance Sportive de Tunis.

His only year with Esperance proved to be fruitful as he became a vital player within the squad and got the chance to lift his second Tunisian league title.

However, after disagreements with the board, he was unable to negotiate a new contract with the Blood and Gold.

It was then confirmed that Zamalek were trying to re-sign their former right-back and they reached out to his representatives to discuss the potential deal.

Zamalek officially announced the transfer deal today through their Twitter account for Nagguez to become the third summer signing for the Whites after Omar Kamal and Mahmoud Shabana.

Hamdi made 68 appearances for Zamalek, assisting eight goals, while scoring one, which came in the Egypt-Saudi Super Cup final against Al Hilal.

During his time at the White Knights, the 28-year-old helped Zamalek win two Egypt Cups, the 2019 Caf Confederation Cup, and the Egyptian-Saudi Super Cup.
