ZAMALEK announce squad for Caf Champions League game against Kenyan Champions Tusker FC five U-23s included

Zamalek head coach, Patrice Carteron, announced his 23-man squad set to face Kenya’s Tusker FC in the CAF Champions League preliminary round.

Zamalek will hope to improve on last season’s disappointing run in the Champions League sun, which saw them getting eliminated from the group stage.

The 2020 Champions League finalists will start their journey in the second preliminary round against Kenya Premier League champions Tusker FC.

The White Knights will travel to Kenya this week to play the first leg this Saturday, 16 October, before hosting them the following week in Egypt.

As they failed to register any of their new signings due to a two-transfer window ban and with their players returning from loan not being fully fit, Carteron decided to heavily rely on the academy players for this encounter.

Five players from the U23 were called-up by the Frenchman, which are Hossam Abdelmeguid, Ahmed Zaki, Hamdi Alaa, El-Sayed Abdallah ‘Neymar’ and Seif Gaafar.

Full squad:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed Awad, Mohamed Abogabal.
