Libyan Premier League side Al-Akhdar Sporting Club complete signing of Egyptian duo Ary Papel and Mohamed Osama

Libyan Premier League side Al-Akhdar SC have announced the signing of Egyptian Premier League attacking duo Ary Papel and Mohamed Osama.

After being close to plying his trade for Cairo giants Zamalek, even claiming he had signed his contracts before the move fell through, Papel went on to sign for Ismaily last October.

Papel became a household name with Angola’s Primeiro de Agosto, where he spent the majority of his career, and helped them reach the 2018 CAF Champions League semifinals. There was, therefore, a lot of expectations from him heading into the new season.

Despite being a regular starter, the 27-year-old had an average season with the Yellows, scoring six goals and providing two assists in his 24 appearances.

It’s also only fair to mention that he joined Ismaily at a very tough time as the club were struggling financially, went through a number of managerial changes, and were battling for relegation until the appointment of Ehab Galal.

Galal left Ismaily to coach Pyramids FC and his replacement Talaat Youssef was reportedly unconvinced with the Angola international, inciting the club to let him join Libyan side Al-Akhdar.

Papel will be joined by Aswan forward Mohamed Osama, who signed a one-year deal.

Osama is an Egyptian Premier League journeyman, having started his career with Al Masry before plying his trade with Ittihad of Alexandria, Petrojet, Haras El-Hodood and finally Aswan, in a span of six years.
