Marc Wilmots: Raja Casablanca coach reveals what guided Al Ahly to Caf Super Cup glory in Doha

Raja Casablanca coach Marc Wilmots has reveals what guided Al Ahly to Caf Super Cup glory as the Egyptian side land their Eight title in history.

Raja Casablanca head coach Marc Wilmots has lamented luck for their CAF Super Cup defeat to Al Ahly, believing his team could have come on top.

The Moroccan giants had suffered a penalty shoot-out defeat against Al Ahly in the CAF Super Cup.

The game was very close as Raja was ahead until the dying moments of the game when Taher Mohamed Taher equalized for the Reds.

After the game, the Belgian manager talked about his team’s performance and how they could have won if they added another early goal.

“The game was very difficult as we expected, matches like this one can change tides in a second,” Wilmots said.

“Al Ahly made their comeback at the last second, and luck was on their side during the penalty shootout.

“I am proud of my players’ performance throughout the game, we were unlucky as we could have doubled our lead early on.

“Al Ahly is a big club, I knew the confrontation was going to be difficult, now I will have to rewatch the game to see what went wrong.

“I’d like to thank the fans for their support tonight, and I promise them improved performance in the future.”
