Pitso Mosimane project at Al Ahly revealed by former defender

Former Egypt international and Al Ahly defender, Ahmed Abou Moslem, defended the Reds head coach Pitso Mosimane amid the heavy criticism he’s receiving.

Mosimane has come under fire in recent weeks for his team’s unconvincing performance and for losing his first two domestic trophies in the Egyptian Premier League and Egyptian Super Cup.

On Saturday night, however, the South African managed to redeem himself with a 1-0 win over ENPPI in the round of 16 of the Egypt Cup.

Despite the small scoreline, the Reds were dominant for the entirety of the encounter and this performance could prove to be crucial to give the team momentum heading into their upcoming challenges.

Abou Moslem believes that the Red Devils should keep their faith in the South African but the latter has to properly prepare the team for the new season.

“Mosimane has a project, which was proven by the deals they made this summer and the players who were let go before the new season. And despite the losing the Super Cup and before it the league, the Al Ahly administration doesn’t make rash decisions,” the former RC Strasbourg man told Youm7 TV via Kingfut.

“The victory over ENPPI is certainly important, but the performance is still questionable, and Mosimane is required to take advantage of the upcoming international break to fix the mistakes, prepare well for the new season, and prepare all players to be able to rely on them.

“This is crucial so that they don’t have last season’s crisis and exhaust the players on which they heavily depend on.

“Miquissone is a promising deal, and he played well today as he proved his ability to keep the ball and his fearless attitude.

“The opportunity he missed in front of goal is due to his desire to score a special goal and not open his scoring record with Al Ahly with an easy goal, but overall it was a promising performance,” he concluded.
