Mamelodi Sundowns star Mothobi Mvala dragged to court over domestic violence against girlfriend Palesa Botipe

A Mamelodi Sundowns player could be in trouble with the law after he had a court case opened against him during this festive season.

The South African portal Soccer Laduma has it on good authority that Sundowns midfielder Mothobi Mvala has had a case of domestic violence opened against him by his girlfriend Palesa Botipe.

According to the information gathered, the football star and Botipe have been together for more than five years from when he was still playing for Highlands Park, but while it looked like they were happy and everything going well between the two of them, a source very close to the couple has revealed that all hasn’t been well and that the matter has now been taken to the authorities to seek intervention.

“Mothobi Mvala has had a case of domestic violence opened against him by his girlfriend and mother of his child Palesa Botipe.

“Palesa is fed up with how abusive Mothobi has been towards her and has decided to go the legal route because the guy isn’t stopping with what he has been doing. They have been together for more than five years and were in the process of getting married after the football star sent his uncles to pay lobola for her, but the lady feels like she has been protecting the guy for far too long and wants action to be taken against him.

“She wanted to protect him and his career, but she is suffering in silence and feels that enough is enough. What is worse is that the lady is pregnant with their second child, but the guy hasn’t stopped with his actions,” said the source.

“The lady has a protection order against him. He swears at her even in front of their child and sometimes he gets physical.

“I know that a lot of people are going to be so shocked because he comes out as if he is this humble person who is very respectful, but people don’t know what his partner has been through because of him.

“He has been abusing her physically and emotionally and the lady had no option but to take him to court, and he is set to appear in court on the 12th of January,” the source added.

The Soccer Laduma claims that they have seen the documents ordering the Bafana Bafana midfielder to appear in court on January 12 on charges of domestic violence.

They claim to have contacted Mvala for a comment on the allegations labelled against him and the Bafana international referred them to Mamelodi Sundowns but the PSL side had not yet got back to them with their reply at the time of publishing this story.
