Ralf Rangnick ‘will receive an £8m bonus for signing Erling Haaland as Manchester United hope his contacts with the striker can convince him to move to Old Trafford’.

Manchester United interim manager Ralf Rangnick will reportedly receive an £8m bonus if he can convince Erling Haaland to join the club.

According to German publication Bild, United are prepared to pay Rangnick a handsome reward if he can use he contacts with the striker to engineer a move to Old Trafford.

Rangnick used to work in Red Bull’s footballing empire – with German club Leipzig – while Haaland played for Austrian outfit Salzburg.

From there, he joined Borussia Dortmund in December 2019 for just £17m.

It is believed Haaland has a release clause in the region of £64m in his contract next summer, which will inevitably spark interest from all of Europe’s elite.

The 21-year-old striker has scored 71 goals in 70 appearances for the German side and hit the back of the net on Saturday on his first game back from injury in the 3-1 triumph over Wolfsburg.

Dortmund are unsurprisingly eager to keep hold of their star man and could look to renegotiate his contract and exit terms with Haaland and his agent, Mino Raiola.

Rangnick, meanwhile, is awaiting confirmation that his visa application has been accepted before he can officially get to work as United’s interim chief.

He will run the team until the end of the season and then take on a two-year consultancy role.

United are 10th in the Premier League but can go three points off the top four with a win over Arsenal on Thursday night.

Rangnick’s interest in Timo Werner

Chelsea forward Timo Werner has appeared on Ralf Rangnick’s transfer shopping list according to latest reports.

The German International has taken over at Old Trafford on interim grounds with the club ready to appointment a permanent manager at the end of the season.

Rangnick has reportedly landed at Old Trafford whiles his paper works are underway with that meaning Michael Carrick will lead the club to Premier league clash with Arsenal on Thursday. Rangnick is expected to watch the Arsenal game from the stands.

Despite not starting his official work yet, the German tactician have a couple of signings in mind with Chelsea forward Timo Werner one of them along with Haaland as reported above.

Werner has been in on-and-off form since completing a £47.5milliom transfer from RB Leipzig in June 2020 under Frank Lampard. This season, Werner has enjoyed poor run failing to score in majority 9 times out 12 appearances made across all competitions.

Despite his poor form, the German forward has attracted interest from top clubs ahead of the January transfer window with Bayern Munich, Barcelona and latest Rangnick’s Manchester United eyeing half-season bid.

Rangnick who has previously coached Werner at Leipzig has reportedly held discussions with Manchester United board on Wednesday afternoon in attempt to bring his former striker to Old Trafford this January.

Much will depend on Werner himself if United are to succeed in bringing the Chelsea forward to Manchester. There is a little chance that Rangnick will sign both Haaland and Werner with the both deals presenting optional to each other.

There are no news on feedback from United board with the club concentrating on finalizing Rangnick’s documents for work to begin.
