Barcelona target Crystal Palace star Zaha as a replacement for Ferran Torres

Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has reportedly emerged as a target for Barcelona on a free transfer, as the winger enters the final months of his contract.

Zaha became free to negotiate a pre-contract with overseas clubs from the start of the month, ahead of his Palace deal expiring at the end of the current campaign.

The Ivory Coast international has made 445 appearances for the south London club across two spells, scoring 89 goals.

Zaha’s availability on a free has reportedly attracted the attention of Barcelona, as the Catalan giants seek to strengthen their attacking options despite their financial constraints.

The winger has emerged as a summer transfer target, according to Fichajes, with Barca officials considering him as a replacement for the out-of-favour Ferran Torres.

Torres had made a dream move to Barcelona from Manchester City last January, becoming Xavi’s first signing as head coach.

The Spanish international has been linked with moves away from the club just 12 months after signing, with Xavi unimpressed with the club’s return on their £46.3million investment to date.

Torres has scored just five goals across 19 appearances this season for Barca, with three coming in the Champions League against Viktoria Plzen.

The 22-year-old has completed the full match just once in 15 LaLiga games this season, with eight of his appearances coming from the bench.

Barcelona are reportedly hopeful of recouping most of their outlay on Torres, as the club attempts to manage its financial crisis.
