Premier League trio set to battle for Cagliari defender Sebastian Walukiewicz

Premier League giants are locked in a transfer tug-of-war to sign centre-back Sebastian Walukiewicz, according to reports.

Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United are all interested in the 20-year-old Cagliari ace despite him signing a new contract last week.

Klopp’s side are in chase of the Premier League whiles hoping to clinch the Champions League this season but they face defense dilemma after injuries of Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez.

Gomez has already undergone surgery on a tendon in his left knee after sustaining an injury in England training. “The issue is likely to rule him out for a significant part of the remainder of 2020-21,” read a Liverpool statement.

Gomez’s injury lay-off means that Klopp will be without both of his first-choice centre backs for the foreseeable future with Van Dijk also sidelined long-term after suffering ACL damage to his knee during the Merseyside derby.

Chelsea seem to solved their defense problem after arrival of Thiago Silva but the Brazilian is much older which prompts the West London side to consider deal for young Walukiewicz.

Although Walukiewicz’s new deal expires in the summer of 2024, it won’t deter Europe’s top clubs from launching their move in January or summer.

According to Italian publication Corriere dello Sport, Inter Milan are also in the mix with Cagliari valuing him at £54million. Arsenal and Southampton have also scouted the Poland defenders this season.

Inter are reportedly considering interesting deals in next summer’s transfer window with N’Golo Kante, Olivier Giroud, Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso eyed while Walukiewicz appears a latest Inter transfer target.

The Poland international has shown terrific potential following his breakthrough season last campaign.
