Chelsea ready to pay double of Cucurella’s asking price amid move to Stamford Bridge

Chelsea are reportedly willing to pay over the odds in order to sign Marc Cucurella if they miss out on Ben Chilwell.

Chelsea are been commended in their top fourth finish due the young and relatively inexperienced side Frank Lampard managed this season.

Their defensive setup was one key problem Frank Lampard could not provide a magic pill to send Chelsea to many glories though the left-back area that has become a major concern for the Chelsea technical bench throughout the season was occupied by experienced Marcos Alonso and Emerson Palmieri.

Undoubtedly, Frank Lampard wants to ship out the duo before start of next season in a bid to bring in new left-back, and a host of names have been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Frank Lampard is understood to preferring his countryman Ben Chilwell to all other names linked with the Blues.

It’s been revealed that Chelsea could have completed a move for £25.3million Alex Telles after restart of football in Europe like what they did in Timo Werner transfer but Lampard was confident of a deal for Chilwell when the Premier League season ends.

And Leicester’s failure to book a spot in next season’s Champions League could have been a major boost in the Three Lion’s pursuit.

However, Leicester’s £80million price tag on Chilwell is creating confusion for Stamford Bridge hierarchy after telling their Premier League rivals they can only afford £50million- which is still higher as compared to prospective alternatives.

Telles could cost Chelsea not more than £25milion, Sergio Reguilon’s transfer from Real Madrid could be up in the air for £18milion whiles Lampard’s side could land Nicolas Tagliafico and Cucurella for £20million and £22million respectively.

Chelsea are now ready to secure a move for Cucurella where the Premier League outfits are prepared to pay double the Spaniard’s £22million asking price in order to prise him away from Getafe, claimed by Daily Mail.

Cucurella only joined the club permanently earlier this year after the La Liga outfit triggered a clause in his loan deal from Barcelona.

The 22-year-old cost less than £6million and does not include a buy-back clause, although Barcelona will claim 10 per cent of any sell-on fee.

Cucurella has made 45 appearances this season, helping Getafe achieve an eighth place finish in the table and reach the Europa League Last-16.
