Chelsea set sight on Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as ‘dream’ transfer in summer

Chelsea are reportedly set their attention to Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak as Kepa Arrizabalaga replacement in summer.

Frank Lampard dropped Kepa from the starting eleven for about a month due his poor performance before he was finally sidelined.

The Spaniard is back in the posts for Chelsea keeping a clean sheet against Liverpool in the FA Cup and Everton in Chelsea’s 4-0 humiliation of Carlo Ancelotti’s men in the EPL. Despite this, he is still not considered as a long term option for Lampard, and this has forced Chelsea to look for replacement.

Chelsea have been linked with several keepers but Jan Oblak has now appeared the man Chelsea dream of signing in the summer as claimed by Spanish outlet AS.

His display against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield has forged Kepa’s chances of staying beyond the end of this season to become more narrow as the Blues are prepared to axe the former Bilbao man to sign Oblak.

Meanwhile, bringing Oblak to Stamford Bridge would be a huge task considering that payer is tie down at Wanda Metropolitano until 2023 which means if any deal at the end of the season can happen Chelsea need to activate his release clause of €120million (£107.5m).

The Blues have to major channels of raising money to embark on Oblak’s deal, and one is the sale of Kepa who remains the World most expensive goalkeeper valued around £70, and 25-year-old has been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent times.

Two is the fund generated from the sale of Eden Hazard last summer when the Belgium completed €100million transfer to Santiago Bernabéu.
