Everton beating Chelsea to the signing of Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes

Everton have already made a vow to secure top four finish next season and they have started making plans for the ambition after bringing in top class manager in Carlo Ancelotti December last year.

They knee making the right things happen in the playing body after being able to fight off competition for most of their top talents in the January transfer window.

They are reportedly planning to make additional qualities into their ranks as they want to begin the signings with the central defence after identifying Chelsea and Arsenal target Gabriel Magalhaes as a top transfer target.

Chelsea were believed to have agreed a deal with Lille over the Brazilian but the Guardian claimed that Everton since last week have emerged as Premier League favorites to land Magalhaes from Lille.

It is understood that the Brazilian center back has already completed Everton medical during the difficult time of the coronavirus pandemic, claimed by The Sun.

Lille are reportedly not secure about the way Chelsea wanted to go about the 20-year-old’s transfer and have agreed a deal in principle worth £20m plus add-ons with the player earning approximately £35,000-a-week, according to The Sun’s report.

Everton are said to wanted the deal officially sealed before football returns due to the fear of uncertainty the may present itself in the global economy and summer transfer window, and Ancelotti’s side have doubt that the Brazilian despite agreement in place would still swerve Everton after covid-19 period is over.

However, Lille will only sanctioned the transfer when the tension brought about by the disease has ended.

In addition, the defender’s camp is also said to be thinking through what options may present themselves when the season finally ends.
