Chelsea closes in on Jules Kounde transfer after Sevilla reportedly accept 55million pounds bid for defender

Sevilla have reportedly accepted 55million pounds bid from Chelsea for Jules Kounde ahead of summer move. Chelsea have been in talks with the Spanish side since the opening of the summer transfer window.

The London side have lost Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger to Barcelona and Real Madrid respectively while Marcos Alonso and César Azpilicueta could depart before the window finally shut down.

They have began filling the void at the back after announcing a deal for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly last week. They have been in talks with Juventus and Sevilla over Matthijs de Ligt and Jules Kounde respectively.

But they have lost out on Matthijs de Ligt deal after Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich announcing a deal for the former Juventus Dutch International.

With Koulibaly arriving on the horizon, Thomas Tuchel’s side look enthusiastic to adding Jules Kounde to their ranks, and reports on Wednesday evening claim that Chelsea have seen a 55million pounds bid for the French International accepted by Sevilla.

Chelsea were reportedly seen their initial 47million pounds bid for Kounde rejected but a reports in Daily Mail reveals the West London side have improved the offer to 55million pounds.

The latest offer appears to influenced Sevilla’s stance on the future of the French defender. The Spanish Laliga side have decided to take home the latest Kounde offer.

Barcelona were handed huge advantage in the 23-year old after Sevilla turn down Chelsea’s initial offer.

Kounde, who almost joined Chelsea last summer, has already agreed personal terms with the club.

The France international began his career with Bordeaux before being signed by Sevilla in the summer of 2019.

He’s set to become Chelsea’s third major signing of the summer – taking their outlay to around £140million – with Tuchel also bringing in Raheem Sterling and centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly this month.

Futball Surgery understand via talkSPORT that Chelsea are also interested in signing defender Presnel Kimpembe, who worked with Tuchel at Paris Saint-Germain.

Kounde going to Chelsea could also have an effect on Arsenal with Barca lining up a bid for William Saliba as an alternative option.

Spanish journalist Gerard Romero says Milan Skriniar, Gvardiol, Inigo Martinez and Roger Ibanez are also on the list.
