Arsenal and Liverpool hinted as target Dayot Upamecano ready to hand in Leipzig transfer request

RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano is reportedly hoping to leave the club this summer and reports in Germany suggest the Frenchman will submit a transfer request if he prevented, by the German outfits, from leaving Leipzig .

The defender is on the radar of Arsenal and European champions Liverpool but Arteta has long been monitoring Upamecano during the manager’s days at Manchester City.

The 21-year-old has been one of Leipzig’s pillars in defence, helping them to reach the quarter finals of the UEFA Champions League and placing third on the German BundesLiga table.

It is reported that Arsenal manager Arteta is considering a summer move for the Frenchman but faces stiffer competition from Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Liverpool where Jurgen Klopp also knee bring the central defender to Anfield.

Upamecano have a year and half left on his contract where £72million release clause is inserted in his contract but will drop to £55million when the current season ends.

Leipzig are ready not to let the defender leave at the end of the season even if his £55m release clause is activated and Bild have reported that the French International will hand in a transfer request to leave the Red Bull Arena.

If the request is handed in as Bild claim, Arsenal and Liverpool will have a strong backing to pursue the French defender.
