Chelsea interested in Monaco defender Benoît Badiashile
The Athletic report that Chelsea are targeting Monaco defender Benoît Badiashile, the French international being at the top of the list of left-sided centre-backs The Blues are interested in.
Another Frenchman is also on the list in Eintracht Frankfurt’s Evan Ndicka, formely of Auxerre, who has racked up over 150 appearances for the Bundesliga since making the move across the Rhine back in 2018. Despite coming to a contractual agreement with another one of their targets in Joško Gvardiol, a deal is yet to be found with Leipzig and the Croatian international’s impressive performances have led the Londoners to look further for potential centre-back arrivals.
No agreement is in place for the Monaco man, although his price tag could reach €35m and discussions are underway. Other Premier League clubs had been chasing Badiashile’s signature last winter, notably Newcastle, with a potential €40m move having been on the cards in a season later derailed by injury.
