Chelsea set for Enzo Fernandez transfer breakthrough after re-opening direct talks with Benfica for midfielder

Chelsea are back in line to sign Enzo Fernandez from Benfica with two days to the end of the January transfer window according to latest reports.

Initial talks between the Premier League side and Benfica broke down after differences on player’s transfer fee with Chelsea unwilling to pay in an episode full Benfica release clause for Enzo Fernandez.

But Chelsea uncertainties in midfield especially on N’Golo Kante and Jorginho has make need for Blues to bring in central midfielder claimed football.london.

Todd Boehly is not the only admirer of Enzo Fernandez but Stamford Bridge boss Graham Potter is also a massive fan of the Argentine International with the English man one of the main brains behind Chelsea maintained interest in Fernandez after the initial collapse of the deal.

Potter is understood not only willing to work with Fernandez at Stamford Bridge but is also ready make the midfielder a starter once Fernandez completes his switch to the Premier League this month.

With two days to the end of the January transfer window, Chelsea have resumed their purchase of Fernandez and are understood in direct talks with Benfica for Enzo who has set his heart on a move to West London.

Football journalist Fabrizio Romano who is exceptionally accuracy in transfer rumours has revealed late in Sunday evening that Chelsea are in direct contacts with Benfica that could see the English side land the 2022 World Cup young best player by the end of the January transfer window.

Fernandez was one of Argentina’s best World Cup performers after Atlerico Madrid star Rodrigo de Paul and PSG superstar Lionel Messi.

With Chelsea wanting Fernandez at all cost, the are willing to pay his 120millions Euros release clause- the amount they were unwilling in their first attempt. Though Benfica are said to resist Chelsea’s second move to land the midfielder by increasing his clause with further 30million Euros taking to a total of 150million Euros, the Portugal club could let Fernandez leave for England if Chelsea pay the original 120million Euros release clause.

Fernandez could be a perfect replacement or backup flr Jorginho.
