Chelsea make Gianluigi Donnarumma contacts towards a possible five-year contract amid replacing Kepa Arrizabalaga in summer transfer window

Chelsea knee signing AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma as the Blues are prepared to offer the Italian goalkeeper a five-year contract in a bid to replace Kepa Arrizabalaga at Stamford Bridge when this season ends.

Kepa joined Chelsea last two seasons ago in a deal that did not only make the Spaniard first choice keeper at Stamford Bridge but also put him to be the most expensive goalkeeper in the world after completing a £72million transfer from Athletic Bilbao in 2018.

Successive mistakes displayed and general dip in form saw the former Athletic Bilbao shot stopper sidelined to the bench fetching Willy Caballero the posts the keep on regular basis at a point in time before Kepa recovered his position in FA Cup game against Liverpool in March.

Despite his return, Frank Lampard is reportedly not happy about Kepa and the manager has ever be on the move to find replacement for the expensive shot stopper. Against this backdrop, Jan Oblak, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Andre Onana, Nick Pope, Dean Henderson, Juan Musso and Manuel Neuer have all been touted as potential replacements this summer but snatching any of these has a special difficulty Chelsea need to overcome.

The West Londons have now set their sight on signing AC Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma  as his situation- where his contract expires in 2021 but has not agreed extension- will provide a little bit of ease for Chelsea to capture him than other potential Kepa replacements.

Chelsea have made contacts with Donnarumma’s agent Mino Raiola over a move in summer for the client as the Blues are a step closer to securing a deal for the Italian stopper claimed by Express Sport.

Further support for this claim is SportItalia journalist Alesssandro Jacobone who means Chelsea are preparing to enter Milan with a five-year contract worth €8million-a-year (£7m) plus bonuses to attempt signing the young goalkeeper.

However, there are further reports that claim Chelsea’s move for Donnarumma wouldn’t be easy, for a variety of reasons, as first, Donnarumma himself prefers to stay at San Siro- having talked about that in an interview with AC Milan website earliest this season, and second, AC Milan’s valuation for Donnarumma- who is currently valued not less than €70m (£62.5m).

Donnarumma agent Riola meanwhile prefers his clients move away from San Siro as the agent views Milan to lack the appropriate direction to coming back to top flight as they used to be in the 90s and early 2000s claimed by Calciomercato, and values his client to leave for around €35m (£31m) due to few months left on Donnarumma’s contract.

Should Donnarumma, 21, move to Stamford Bridge under the five-year deal proposed by Chelsea, he will earn €40m (£35.4m) over the course of the deal and over £130,000-a-week (after the five years) while Raiola will reportedly receive a bigger commission for any transfer.

There is no official news on what Chelsea would offer to sign the keeper but The Sun claim Franks Lampard’s side are ready to offer £53.4million plus Kepa Arrizabalaga to sign Donnarumma.

Chelsea could face stiff competition from Real Madrid and PSG who are also interested in signing goalkeeper especially for the French side at the end of this season.
