Black Galaxies captain Gladson Awako confident of victory over Nigeria in CHAN qualifiers

Captain of Ghana’s home-based national team, Gladson Awako after their qualification to the next round, has attributed their efforts to discipline and added they are ever ready for Nigeria.

The Black Galaxies were really unstoppable and clearly by far the better side against Benin, after edging them out with a 4-0 on aggregate victory to cruise into the final round of the ongoing 2022 CHAN qualifiers.

The 2017 WAFU champions won the first leg by an emphatic 3-0 in Cape Coast before nipping on Daniel Afriyie Barnieh’s late winner to steal another victory in Cotonou over the weekend.
They will now face neighbours and sworn rivals Nigeria in the final qualifying round later this month.
Speaking to Original FM in Accra, the Hearts of Oak playmaker admitted games between Ghana and Nigeria are always tough and competitive but reiterated with so much optimism that, they are ready for the task ahead.
“I will give thanks to God because it wasn’t easy. They gave us a very tough game but we stayed discipline and listened to what they taught us. I think it has helped us to win.”
“We are not done yet. We will still continue to prepare well and do what that we are supposed to do so that we can give Nigeria a tough competition.”
“Everyone knows how Ghana and Nigeria game is. We have to prepare well so that we can beat them to progress into the competition.” He landed
