ES Setif complete signing of Daniel Lomotey after unveiling Ghana Premier League top scorer

Algerian Side ES Setif have completed the signing of Ghana Premier League top scorer Daniel Lomotey from WAFA after unveiling the Ghana International last Monday.

Setif have enjoyed a smooth start to the 2020/2021 Algerian top flight league after winning 7, drawing 3 and losing 1 out of 11 Premier League games to emerge toppers of the league standings.

They have struck a total 16 times in the league so far to join the most free scoring side along with USM Alger and ASO Chlef just that the latest two have conceded more goals, 12 each while Setif have conceded only 4 times.

Despite their free scoring record, they have added another goal-poacher from West African Football Academy (WAFA) in the Ghana Premier League as the Algerian side prepare to lift the Premier League this term and make meaningful impact in the Caf Confederation Cup where they will face giants Asante Kotoko.

Lomotey netted 8 goals to become the leading striker in the Ghana Premier League with his last goal coming against the opponents his new club Setif will be facing in the Confederation Cup Asante Kotoko in Sogakope.

Lomotey had attracted interest from Asante Kotoko, Mamelodi Sundowns, Orlando Pirates, TP Mazembe and AS Soliman from Tunisia but Setif bust into the scene to land one of the brightest forwards in the Ghanaian league.

Lomotey, 21, completed his medical at Setif last Friday before signing a 3-year deal and was unveiled to the media and supporters of the club at a press conference.

The Ghanaian International was on the verge of being contacted by Kotoko- who knee on signing Lomotey to pair deadly striker Kwame Opoku or replace his country man after Zamalek reportedly planning to prize Kwame Opoku from Kotoko.

However, the 21-year old flew to Tunisia just a day after scoring against Kotoko in week 9 of the Ghana top flight league. With his Tunisian Soliman deal collapsing due to undisclosed reasons, he has completed a $100,000 move until 2024.

Lomotey is expected to play when Asante Kotoko host ES Setif in Caf Confederation Cup play-off at the Accra Sports Stadium 14th this month.
