WAFA appoint Spaniard Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza as replacement for Prosper Nartey Ogum

The Sogakope based club have announced the appointment of the Spaniard as their new head coach ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Ghana Premier League outfit West African Football Academy SC have named Guillermo Hamdan Zaragoza as their first team coach for the next two seasons.

Hamdan Zaragoza has joined the Academy boys as replacement for Prosper Narteh Ogum who left the club last month for Asante Kotoko.

“WAFA is a very prestigious institution that has been very successful in the development of players in West Africa,” Hamdan Zaragoza told the club’s official website.

“I hope that I can come in and contribute to the work that has been done for over 20 years.

“I will mainly be working with the senior side so I will do my best to help them in this last phase of development.”

He holds UEFA PRO coaching certificate and has lived in five countries USA, Mexico, Italy, Qatar and Spain. The Ghanaian side placed third on the log last term before they beaten for the manager.

The club have set next term ambitions of qualifying to Africa by winning the Ghana Premier League or the FA Cup as major part of appointing the Spanish International.

However, the job will be difficult for Zaragoza after WAFA selling some of their best performers for last season. Enock Asubonteng has joined Hearts of Oak as the league champions light up in the African Champions League.

Play-maker Augustine Boakye has joined Austrian outfit Wolfsberger AC  making two appearances so far for his new team.

The likes of Konadu Yiadom and Justice Torsutey have been linked with a move to local side Asante Kotoko. It’s understood that the former could leave for Europe while the later will remain at WAFA which can boost for Zaragoza.
