Hearts coach Samuel Boadu refuses to give up on league title despite loss at Asante Kotoko

Hearts of Oak coach Samuel Boadu has refused to give up on defending the league title he won last year despite a 1-0 defeat to rivals Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, April, 10.

A first-half penalty awarded to Kotoko by referee Kennedy Padi and converted by Cameroonian international Frank Etuoga ensured the Porcupine Warriors extended their lead on the league table.

With ten games to the end of the season, it appears Hearts will need a miracle to retain their title but Samuel Boadu says there are more twists and turns ahead.

“Some of the decisions of the referee today were not on but we have ten games to go and we will never say die.”

Meanwhile, Kotoko coach Prosper Nartey Ogun says his team will not get complacent despite this win and will remain focused until the end of the season.

“We have a lot of games to play, there are 30 points left and if any team wins all of that they can overtake us. We will remain focused until the last game against Accra Lions,” Ogun told StarTimes after the game.

This is the first time since 2018 that Kotoko have been able to beat their arch-rivals at the Baba Yara stadium in a league fixture.
