Asamoah Gyan HURT by Ghana Premier League boos

Asamoah Gyan has disclosed that he was hurt by boos from fans of Asante Kotoko while playing a Ghana Premeir League game against them during his time at Legon Cities.

Gyan’s relationship with the Porcupine Warriors hit the rocks after joining the Royals last season, when it had been reported he was close to joining the Reds.

Fans of the Kumasi based side vented their spleen at the former Black Stars captain, when Legon Cities played Asante Kotoko last season.

“I came to Legon Cities because my house is in Accra but Asante Kotoko is my team and scoring against Hearts of Oak is in my DNA,” he told Asaase FM in Accra.

“To be honest when Legon Cities played against Asante Kotoko and my own Kotoko fans booed me, to be honest that really hurt but I got over it and realised that it is all love; it did hurt though,” he added.

The 36-year-old is hoping to don the Red jersey of Asante Kotoko before calling it a quit on his glittering football career.

“I would like to play for Asante Kotoko if I have to return [to playing football again]. I am a huge fan of the club,” he told Joy FM in an earlier interview.

Asamoah Gyan will be launching his maiden memoir on April 30, 2022.
