Former GPL attacker Kwame Peprah scores to propel Orlando Pirates to CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals

Ghanaian striker Kwame Peprah scored the match winner for Orlando Pirates to advance to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup on Sunday at the Orlando Stadium.

The Buccaneers progressed to the last four of the competition after beating Tanzanian champions Simba SC on penalty shootouts in a keenly contested game.

Having the lost 1-0 to Simba in the first leg fixture last week, Peprah’s solitary strike levelled matters for Pirates with a 1-1 aggregate scoreline.

The former King Faisal Babes talisman rose highest to head home a cross from left-back Innocent Maela in the 60th minute to send the game to penalties after full-time.

Peprah was substituted in the 77th minute after being replaced by Malawi international Gabadinho Mhango.

The South African giants booked their place in the semi-finals of the Confederation Cup after winning 4-3 on post-match penalties.

The 21-year-old has scored two goals in 8 appearances for Pirates in the Confederation Cup this season.

Ghana goalkeeper Richard Ofori was the hero as he saved two penalties and scored the final one to send the Sea Robbers through.
