Mamelodi Sundowns Transfer News: No response from Al Ahly to Percy Tau bid, Brazilians confident of breakthrough at end of the season

They have been linked with a number of players and Percy Tau is one of them with the Brazilians making their interest officially known to Al Ahly.

Despite scoring in Al Ahly’s FIFA Club World Cup opener against Auckland City on Wednesday evening, Percy Tau future doesn’t look bright at the Egyptian Premier League side, according to latest reports.

Marcel Koller, who have faith in the South African International registering him for the FIFA Club World Cup, will overhaul his setup which could still affect Tau due to his poor injury history.

Tau has been linked with a return to Mamelodi Sundowns at the end of the season. Ahead of the opening of the January transfer window, the South African International was associated with joining back his former side in homeland.

But a late bid from Mamelodi Sundowns on Tuesday 31st January was not responded to by Tau’s parent club Al Ahly reaffirming plans to sell the 28-year old attacker.

If a deal doesn’t look likely for Tau to rejoin his former club Sundowns this period, the Premier Soccer League leaders are still hopeful of a breakthrough in the summer.

There are positive news for Sundowns fans ahead of a deal at the end of the season with Al Ahly’s silence on the transfer suggesting the Egyptian Premier League side could be ready to cash in on the winger when the season ends.

South African news outlet SABC has revealed Mamelodi Sundowns’ bid to Al Ahly on twitter.

Percy Tau joined Ahly in August 2021 but his progress has been hampered with series of injuries. The 28-year old has managed 39 games since his arrival in Cairo and scored 11 goals including his strike against Auckland City in the 2023 FIFA Club World Cup in Morocco.

The South African International Al Ahly contract runs out at the end of next season with his club reportedly unsure of offering a renewal deal handing Sundowns the advantage to sign th player at the end of the current campaign.
