Lawrence Ati-Zigi talks about his DESERVED market value as FC St Gallen are focused on avoiding relegation

The 24-year-old quickly became St Gallen’s first-choice safest pair of hands after joining the club in a deal worth 328,020 Swiss francs from French Ligue 2 side Sochaux last season.

Ati-Zigi then took the Swiss Super League by storm with strings of fantastic saves as the Green and White lads finished 2nd on the table.

Despite his side’s underwhelming performance in the ongoing campaign, Ati-Zigi’s market value skyrocketed to over $2 million.

With a market value of over $2 million, Zigi is second behind Leonidas Stergiou (almost 5.5 million) among the most valuable players at FC St. Gallen.

“I think I deserve it,” Ati-Zigi said. He has not missed a game for the side since he joined in January 2020.

Ati-Zigi has shipped in 42 goals and kept 10 clean sheets in 32 games for his club so far this season.

St Gallen have had a poor campaign this season sitting 7th place with 37 points, 35 more points behind leaders Young Boys.

They have only managed with a win in their last five league games and looking at this trend, St Gallen could find themselves in relegation at the end of the season.

On top of that, The Kybun Park club are sitting just four points above the drop zone following their 1-0 loss against FC Basel on Saturday.

But goalkeeper Ati-Zigi says they are not fretting about the position on the standings amid chances of being relegated.

The 24-year-old insisted that they are fully focused on finishing the campaign strongly.

Fear of relegation? “No,” the Ghana international firmly said.

“We’re all focused and determined, so it’s not something that scares us.”
