Wydad Casablanca to have fans behind them in Caf Champions League return leg against Hearts of Oak

Wydad Casablanca will have their fans present when they host Hearts of Oak in return CAF Champions League fixture in Morocco.

The Ghanaian side crushed out CI Kamsar in a prelims one-off fixture at the Accra Sports Stadium weeks ago.

The victory sees Hearts of Oak make a first round encounter against African giants Wydad Athletic Club next month having the Moroccan side escaped prelims in seeded manner.

With Hearts of Oak likely to host Wydad in an empty Stadium, their opponents will be boosted when they have their fans behind them after government given a green light for supporters attendance in the second leg.

The new green light follows a decision by Morocco to lift ban on fans attending football games and will take effect after the international break.

According to government, stadium across the country can 40 percent of fans in attendance for games.

This means over 26,000 Wydad fans will be allowed into the 67,000 capacity Stade Mohammed V in Casablanca for the return leg.

However, authorities have set strict conditions for the attendance of fans, including the imperative to have vaccination passports, and to prevent minors under 18 years of age from entering.

Hearts of Oak will host the first leg in Accra on October 17 while the second leg is scheduled for October 23, 2021.
