World Cup 2022: Dramatic end to Group H as Ghana, Uruguay crash out of tournament

Group H of the 2022 FIFA World Cup ended with a twist as South Korea shocked Portugal to progress to the Round 16 stage of the tournament.

The focus game of the final round of the group games was at Al Janoub Stadium where Ghana locked horns with Uruguay.

In a game the Black Stars would be awarded a penalty kick in the 15th minute, captain Andre Ayew accepted the responsibilities from the 12 yards.

Unfortunately, for the most experienced player in the Ghana squad at the tournament, the pressure got to him as he failed to equalise.

With the game turning on its head, Uruguay dominated play for the remainder of the first half and deservedly had a comfortable 2-goal lead.

It was all thanks to a brace from Brazil-based forward Giorgian De Arrascaeta who scored in the 26th and 32nd minutes respectively.

Despite an improved performance from Ghana in the second half, the Black Stars could not score for a chance to come back from behind to secure the much-needed draw.

Having lost 2-0 today, Ghana are out of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, Uruguay are also out of the tournament although the South Americans secured the win against Ghana.

The Uruguayans are out of the tournament after South Korea earned the advantage from a superior goal difference as both national teams finished the group with 4 points each.
