Ghana technical advisor Chris Hughton scouts Antoine Semenyo in Bristol City thumping of Hull City

Black Stars technical advisor was spotted in the stands at the Ashton Gate Stadium when Bristol City mauled Hull City 5-0 in the English Championship last weekend.

Hughton left the ground shortly after forward Antoine Elorm Semenyo was substituted off, GHANAsoccernet.com can say that he was there to watch the Ghanaian forward.

The former Newcastle United and Brighton boss certainly had some good notes to scribe about the highly talented footballer.

Semenyo continued his devastating form this season in the game, adding another goal and two assists, making it two goals and four assists in his last four games.

The way he bullied Hull defenders Sean McLoughlin and Alfie Jones were scenes Hughton will hugely be impressed with.

The 22-year-old was meant to join the Ghana national team camp in March after being selected for the first time, but an injury ruled him out of the World Cup play-off against Nigeria.

He earned the Black Stars invitation after a period of inspired form where he got 6 goals and 7 assists in 12 matches.

The Black Stars have 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and two friendly matches in June, ahead of preparations for World Cup 2022.

Semenyo is likely to be included in the Ghana squad for the games against Madagascar and Central African Republic in the qualifications and for the four nations tournament in Japan.

The England-born attacker has 20 goals contributions for Bristol this term with 8 goals and 12 assists in 30 matches in the Championship.

Cape Coast Stadium approved for Ghana’s opener against Madagascar

The Cape Coast Stadium has been approved by the Confederation of African Football to host Ghana’s AFCON 2023 qualifiers following the rejection of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The Black Stars will return to Cape Coast in June for the opening game of the Nations Cup qualifiers against Madagascar, and the venue will also host games against the Central Africa Republic and Angola.

CAF rejected Ghana’s proposal to continue the use of the Baba Yara Sports stadium after it was used for the World Cup playoff against Nigeria, following the poor state of the Cape Coast stadium.

However, upon meeting a CAF deadline of April 25, the continent’s governing body agreed for the use of Cape Coast for Ghana’s home games.

The Black Stars will begin their AFCON qualifiers on June 1st against Madagascar, before travelling to CAR for their second match in Group E.

The Black Stars will be hoping to make a return to the Africa Cup of Nations after a poor campaign in Cameroon early this year.
