GPL- Hearts vs Kotoko postponed to 04:00 GMT as Accra Sports Stadium await President

Both Asante Kotoko and Heats of Oak have completed their warm-up sessions waiting for their clash to begin 03:00 GMT but there was a latest development to shift the game forward by an hour as the Stadium await President Nana Akfu-Addo.

The President of the nation has reportedly not arrived at the Accra Sports- a condition unmatching kickoff of the Presidential Cup. To meet his arrival, the game has been shifted forward as both teams wait in the dressing room while supports wait in the stands.

Asante Kotoko were defeat 2-1 in last season’s Presidential Cup as they seek for a revenge this afternoon. Before loss to Hearts last term, Kotoko had won it two consecutive times all against Hearts of Oak, and on penalties. Kotoko is the club with the longest consecutive winning period from 2004 to 2008, defeating Liberty Professional in 2004, Hearts of Oak in 2005 and Hearts again in 2008.

Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs was the first club to win the competition in 1969 after beating Asante Kotoko 1-0.

Since it introduction 54 years ago, thus, in 1969, Asante Kotoko is the most successful club clinching 8 titles.

They are hoping to make it 9 title wins. A win today will also shape their chances of retaining the Ghana Premier League title. They are been led on the table by Aduana Stars by 5 points while Hearts of Oak will probe to level matters on the standings with Kotoko.
