Orlando Pirates striker Kwame Peprah says he deserves a call-up to the Ghana national team following his breakout season in the Premier Soccer League (PSL).

However, the star striker was overlooked for Otto Addo’s 33-man Ghana squad for their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

“Every Ghanaian player’s dream is to join the national team, to work and to support and be able to support his country. Considering my former performances with King Faisal and also this season at Orlando Pirates, I think I have done enough to be handed a call-up,” Kwame Peprah told JoySports.

“As the type of striker that I am, I can play on the left-wing, the right-wing and also as the centre-forward. My aerial duels are very good – that I can say. I think deserving a call-up is not a bad idea.”

Kwame Peprah was big enough to add, “The current players in the [Black Stars] camp all also deserve the call-up so I wish them all the best of luck in the coming games.”

Ghana, who have been drawn in Group E for the AFCON 2023 qualifiers, beat Madagascar 3-0 in their opening match and followed that up with a 1-1 draw against Central Africa Republic.

Angolaare the fourth and final country in the group.

Only the top two finishers from each group will progress to next year’s AFCON tournament to be held in the Ivory Coast.

Meanwhile, Ghana are one of the five African countries which will represent the continent at this year’s Soccer World Cup in Qatar.

Peprah will no doubt have aspirations of being part of that tournament, along with Buccaneers and national team-mate Richard Ofori.
