Kaizer Chiefs teenager James McFarlane dies in car accident

Kaizer Chiefs have tragically lost a young prospect following a fatal car accident that claimed the lives of three teenagers.

Chiefs under-19 midfielder James McFarlane has succumbed to serious injuries following a horrific accident in Johannesburg on Friday.

Details of the incident remain sketchy, although it is understood that McFarlane was with two friends, who also passed away on the scene.

The former Amajimbos rising star had captained Amakhosi’s under-17 team and was a regular feature in Molefi Ntseki’s junior national team.

The incident was confirmed in a statement released by the players’ representatives at Siyavuma Sports Group, who expressed their sadness at the loss of the young lives.

“It’s with a very heavy heart that we advise that James McFarlane, Kaizer Chiefs U19 and SA national U17 team player has passed away in a tragic accident. We have lost one of our family,” read a statement from SSG.

“Our hearts go out to his family, friends and to those of his companions who also tragically lost their lives. We will miss you James, May your soul Rest In Peace.”

It is also understood that McFarlane, who lost his English-born father at a young age, was set to undergo trials in the UK but plans were slightly derailed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

KickOff.com wishes to extend sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the 18-year-old and those who lost their lives.
