Ghana International Nuru Sulley close to completing reunion with former side Hearts of Oak

Hearts of Oak are reportedly close to signing former defender Nuru Sulley for the second time according to reports in Ghana.

The former Black Stars ‘B’ defender left Hearts six years ago after leading the local Black Stars to the 2014 African Nations Championship final in South Africa against Libya.

He joined Libyan side Al Nasr Benghazi in 2014 before sealing a surprise move to league rivals Al-Ittihad Tripoli in 2015 but the 2013 WAFU winner’s impressive performance saw Turkish side Alanyaspor completed a move for the Ghanaian International at the end of 2015.

He signed for Iraq Premier League side Naft Al-Junoob last year but became a free man since terminating his contract with the Iraq outfits November 2019.

He has been on trials with Hearts of Oak before the coronavirus crisis caused a sudden suspension of the Ghana Premier League and talks between the two parties have been fruitful.

The 27-year-old is expected to sign two year deal at Hearts and will team up with former team-mate Isaac Mensah who is also reuniting with the Ghana Premier League giants.

In November 2013, coach Maxwell Konadu, invited Sulley to be a part of the Ghana national football team squad for the 2013 WAFU Nations Cup. Sulley helped the Ghana national football team to a first-place finish after Ghana beat Senegal by three goals to one.

In 2014, Sulley formed a strong partnership in central defence for Black Stars B with rivals’ defender Abeiku Ainooson when Ghana eventually reached the 2014 CHAN tournament final hosted by South Africa.
