Chelsea players shocked by death of Ghanaian kitman at the club

Former and current Chelsea players were stunned to learn of the death of the club’s Ghanaian kitman, identified only as Eric.

Eric had apparently visited Ghana for vacation two weeks prior to his untimely death.

“RIP ERIC. Heartbreaking news today. BOSS you will be deeply missed,” former Chelsea captain John Terry led the tributes on Twitter.

Using the same medium, winger Callum Hudson-Odoi described Eric as a “good-hearted man.”

According to the Ghanaian, the late Eric was a huge help to him as he progressed through the academy to the senior team.

“This really hurts! RIP ERIC. You really helped me through a lot growing up in the academy and you were more than a Kit man, you were a Good-hearted man who wanted nothing but the best for Everyone!! Thank you for everything and May your soul rest in perfect peace,” Hudson-Odoi tweeted.

England fullback Reece James also described Eric as having “a real clean heart” and always wanting the best for all of the academy boys.

“Rest In Peace Eric. You were more than a kit man. You had a real clean heart, funny personality and always wanted the best for all the academy lads. Miss the days when I used to rummage for fresh Nike socks. Until we meet again fly high & rest easy. Will miss you” James said in a tweet.

It is unclear what caused Eric’s death or whether he died in Europe or Ghana.
