Breaking- Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour charged for misconduct after kicking Mbella Etouga

The GFA Disciplinary Committee has charged Bechem United defender Samuel Osei Kuffour for a misconduct in the Ghana Premier League Matchday 19 game against Asante Kotoko

Osei Kuffour is charged with a breach of Article 34(6)(d) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, 2019.

According to the charge sheet, Samuel Osei Kuffour did intentionally kick player number 11 of Asante Kotoko SC (Frank Thierry Etouga Mbella) in an off-ball situation, an action which in the opinion on the association is an improper behavior and likely to bring the game into disrepute.

The player is expected to respond to the charge by 5:00pm on Thursday, March 10, 2022 failing which the GFA Disciplinary Committee will proceed to adjudicate the case without his Statement of Defence.

Bechem United issue applogy

Ghana Premier League side Bechem United have rendered an apology to Asante Kotoko after their player Samuel Osei Kuffour assaulted the Porcupines Frank Mbella.

Bechem United in a statement condemned the unsporting behavior of their defender asked the public to forgive Kuffour.

According to the club, despite Kuffour being one of the most disciplined players in camp, his action on matchday 19 of the Ghana Premier League against Kotoko will not be swept under the carpet.

The condemned incident

Meanwhile, Samuel Osei Kuffour has admitted he was wrong to stamp Cameroonian striker Etuoga Mbella Frank Thierry in the goalless draw against Asante Kotoko at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park in Bechem on Tuesday.

Kuffour intentionally stamped on Etouga on the 22nd minute after clearing the ball to safety but he was very fortunate that referee Kennedy Padi and his assistants did not see the incident.

However, after the game, he went to Etouga with some colleagues to make peace with him before heading towards his dressing room.

Kuffour joined Bechem United at the start of the season from lower division side Young Vipers on a three-year deal.

When Bechem United signed Osei Kuffour

In August 2021, Bechem United announced the signing of Ghanaian defender Samuel Osei Kuffuor ahead of next season.

The center-back joins the Hunters on a three-year deal from Division One outfit Young Vipers.

Osei Kuffuor is expected to replace Salifu Moro, who is leaving the club, following reports of interest from Hearts of Oak and club in North Africa.

The young defender has been signed to boost the defence of the Hunters, after they escaped relegation by just a point, finishing last season in 13th position.

The 2016 FA Cup winner have also announced the signing of striker Emmanuel Avornyoh.

Bechem United are doing early business with the hopes of having a good campaign in the 2021/22 season.
