FIFA ban KAIZER CHIEFS from signing new players for two consecutive transfer windows but to appeal new ruling

FIFA has imposed a two consecutive transfer window ban of ABSA Premiership side Kaizer Chiefs for failure to pay compensation to Madagascan side Fosa Juniors in their signing of Adriamirado ‘Dax’ Andrianarimanana back in August 2018.

The South African giants thought to have signed Andrianarimanana on a free transfer following his impressive performance in the COSAFA Cup hosted in South Africa in 2018.

However, Fosa Junior, where ‘Dax’ was playing before his move to Chefs later claimed that the ‘Dax’ was having a running contract before the player opted to join the South African side.

It is believed that Chiefs had the green light from FIFA’s Player’s Status Committee to sign Madagascan and even register him in the South African League, which they did so without paying any amount the Fosa Juniors.

There was a sudden jerk of new ruling on Sunday by FIFA that has declared Andrianarimanana’s transfer to Chiefs as null and void, resulting in a four-month ban for the midfielder, and now Chiefs will be unable to sign players for two transfer windows.

A statement released by FIFA reads, “The claim of the Claimant, Fosa Juniors FC, is partially accepted.

“The Respondent I, Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianarimanana, is order to pay the Claimant, with 30 days as from the date of notification of this decision, compensation for breach of contract in the amount of MGA 157 572 000 [equal to R638 533, 14] plus 5% interest p.a. from 11 December 2018 until the date of effective payment.

“Respondent II, Kaizer Chiefs FC, is jointly and severally liable for the payment of the aforementioned compensation.

“A restriction of four month his eligibility to play in officialmatches is imposed on the Respondent I, Andriamirado Aro Hasina Andrianarimanana. This sanction applies with immediate effect as of the date of notification of the present decision.

“The sporting sanction shall remain suspended in the period between the last official match of the season and the first official match of the next season, in both cases including national cups and international championships for clubs.

“Respondent II, Kaizer Chiefs FC, shall be banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the two next entire and consecutive regitration periods following the notification of this present decision.”

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs have announced their intention to appeal the ruling before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).

“Kaizer Chiefs will lodge an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in accordance to article 58 par. 1 of the FIFA Statutes,” read a statement from the club.
