Mamelodi Sundowns forced to register 3 new signings ahead of CAF Champions League

Mamelodi Sundowns have rushed to register a trio of their new signings in time for the 2021/22 CAF Champions League group stages.

Mamelodi Sundowns will get their 2021/22 CAF Champions League group stage campaign up and running against reigning Sudan champions Al-Hilal at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Friday, 11 February.

And they potentially will have three new faces in their matchday squad after rushing to register a trio of recent signings in time to take part in the tournament.

The most recent additions to the Masandawana squad are of course Surprise Ralani, Teboho Mokoena and Erwin Saavedra.

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi confirmed that the threesome were registered.

“For this period, it is only a few players we have registered. It was Surprise Ralani, [Teboho] Mokoena and [Erwin] Saavedra because the rest of the squad was registered earlier,” he explained.

Mamelodi Sundowns face a ‘Group of Death’ in the group stages of this season’s CAF Champions League.

In addition to facing Al-Hilal in Group A, Mamelodi Sundowns will also be up against another Sudanese side Al-Merrikh and Egyptian giants Al Ahly.

Only the top two sides will progress out of each of the four groups to the quarter-finals, making victory in their opening home match imperative for the Tshwane giants.
