Asante Kotoko enter into negotiations to sign King Faisal forward Kwame Peprah as replacement for Kwame Opoku

Asante Kotoko have identified the replacement of set-to-depart Kwame Opoku with a deal for King Faisal striker Kwame Peprah already underway.

The Ghana Premier League are on the hunt for replacement for Kwame Opoku- have signed four year contract with USM Alger though no official announcement have been made. Futball Surgery understand that the Algerian side may do so this weekend or early next week.

USM Alger and Kotoko have agreed a reported €500,000 as the Ghana International would now become among Alger’s top earners when the deal is finally announced.

Opoku’s departure comes as major blow for Kotoko having him netted 8 goals and created more chances than any Porcupine Warriors player to become the club’s most influential ace this season.

Kotoko beat King Faisal on Wednesday in outstanding Ghana Premier League to move third place on the log and a win another outstanding game against Bechem United will see the Kumasi based side second on the log.

That comes as the club knee on fighting for the Ghanaian top flight league title for first time since 2014 and with Opoku going could heavily affect their title-winning ambitions in the Ghana Premier League this season.

However, a host of replacements for the 21-year old have been identified to enhance Kotoko’s chances of beating the likes of Great Olympics, Karela United, Hearts of Oak and Medeama SC to the ultimate.

It’s understood that Kotoko are on the lookout for a Brazilian forward and have contacted the player’s agent but King Faisal’s Kwame Peprah has emerged a stronger candidate given his fin form so far.

Kotoko have also penciled down leading top scorer Diawisei Taylor and have even made contacts about the availability of the forward however Karela United are told not ready to do business until end of the season.

Kwame Peprah, 20, has scored 9 Ghana Premier League goals as one of the five top scorers in the Ghanaian top flight. Asante Kotoko have contact player’s agent Berlin Sports- BFT in attempt to bring him to Kotoko. Meanwhile official bid has been submitted to King Faisal who are yet to respond.

The 20-year old have reportedly told close friends his willingness to join the Reds. He has also made 4 assists and has been included in the Black Stars squad ahead of Afcon qualifiers against South Africa and Sao Tome.

The major of boost is with when King Faisal are reportedly ready to sell Peprah in Ghana’s second transfer window.

When he was yet to receive a call up, the King Faisal forward eyed making Black Stars appearance. “I will be very much excited if I get a call up. It is every player’s dream to represent your country.”

“But I won’t put all my hopes on it. If it happens, that’s good. If it doesn’t, I will keep working hard to get the recognition I need.”

“I want to continue to do what I am doing to help King Faisal stay in the league. That is my biggest achievement,” he concluded.

The Porcupine Warriors could be competed by rivals Hearts of Oak who have also shown interest in sign the young sensational striker.
