Hasaacas Ladies come from a goal down to secure 2-2 draw against Wadi Degla in final Group A game

After winning their opening two games of the maiden edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League, Hasaacas Ladies fought hard to record a draw in their final group game against Wadi Delga.

The game, which was played on Thursday, November 11, saw the Ghanaian side come from behind on two occasions to avoid defeat and keep their unbeaten record in the competition.

Faustina Aidoo and Veronica Appiah were on the scoresheet for Yusif Basigi’s side as they recorded a 2-2 stalemate at the June 30 Stadium in Cairo.

Jasmine Zachwieja opened the scoring for the Egyptian side after nine minutes played, slotting the ball past Grace Buoadu in post for the Hasmal Ladies.

Faustina Aidoo then drew Hasaacas Ladies back into the game moments later, heading into the net Perpetual Agyekum’s cross to make it 1-1.

Despite threatening their opponents after drawing level, Hasaacas Ladies fell behind again once again. Abdelaziz Elsolh, scored from a direct free kick to restore Delga’s lead.

Wadi Delga went into the break with a 2-1 lead and were hoping to grab their first win of the tournament.

However, a Veronica Appiah strike into the late just four minutes after recess saw Hasaacas Ladies level things once again to make it 2-2.

Basigi’s side managed to hold off the late pressure from Wadi Delga and secure a point on Thursday.

Hasmal Ladies will now wait on the Group B games tomorrow to learn their opponents for the semifinal stage of the competition.
