  • Offer him chance to play in one of Europe’s elite clubs
  • The opportunity to win the coveted UEFA Champions League
  • Rise his market value
  • He becomes a target for other elite clubs

The opening of the January transfer window is less than a month away from now with European clubs spotting the festive to capture their targets for respective reinforcements.

Barcelona is one of the clubs who will be busy this January with a number of top talents reportedly on their shopping list. Though it’s reckoned that the Laliga side don’t have enough to spend in January but they are capable of raising funds to embark on their activities.

It’s understood that the Spanish giants have targeted at least 10 players who could make way into Laliga as the Catalans prepare for massive squad overhaul amid rebuild under Xavi Hernandez claimed by the Mirror.

According to Mirror‘s Mundo Deportivo claims, Barcelona knee on River Plate goalscorer Julian Alvarez, Manchester United duo Edinson Cavani and Jesse Lingard, Chelsea’s Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling, Spurs’ Bryan Gil, Leipzig’s Dani Olmo, RB Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi and Basel’s Arthur Cabral in next month’s showpiece.

The reports suggested that Barcelona boss Xavi who managed Ayew at Al Sadd has recommended the Ghanaian to Barca’s board and justified the Ayew’s move to the Camp Nou.

The former Barcelona midfielder signed Andre Ayew for Al Sadd from a free agent perspective at the beginning of the current season. Ayew penned two seasons and has a season-and-half left on his current contract in Qatar.

The 31-year old has already started off at Al Sadd very well netting 7 times in 9 Qatari Super League games and Barca’s interest could only maintain the Ghanaian’s form at the worse point of view.

On a positive note, Barca’s interest should lead Ayew into massive fire works at Al Sadd where the end product should be the Ghanaian making major head lines in the club’s dominance in domestic and international competitions.

Although he has already assisted his club in lifting Emir Cup in October after beating Al Rayyan 5-4 on penalties. Ayew can only be expected helping his side to win this season’s Qatari league, AFC Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup next term- thus only when he remained at Al Sadd now that Barca wants him.

Only few Ghanaian players have played European top flight football with Michael Essien playing for Chelsea and Real Madrid, Sulley Muntari featuring for AC Milan, Inter Milan and Portsmouth, Stephen Appiah playing for Juve, Kwadwo Asamoah for Juve and Inter while Baba Rahman for Chelsea and Asamoah Gyan played for Sunderland in the English Premier League.

Essien won the Premier League title with Chelsea as well as adding the UEFA Champions League trophy in his cabinet after the Blues defeated Bundesliga side Bayern Munich on penalties at the Allianz Arena in 2012.

Muntari had also played a key role in Inter Milan thrashing of Bayern Munich 2-0 victory to lift the Champions League title in 2010. Ayew remains one of the hardworking Ghanaian players who is unlucky on the European title. Maybe he has not played for favourite clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, AC Milan, Chelsea and Inter Milan in his entire career.

Barcelona’s interest presents the best opportunity to play in an elite club and possibly the opportunity to lay hands on the coveted Champions League title like his era compatriot Essien and Muntari who because they won the CL are greatly respected in European soil when ever football is mentioned.

Though Barca’s current form makes them less favourites for the Champions League title like their hey days under Pep Guardiola. However, they offer the best chances for the European title than other teams.

With Barcelona’s interest Ayew’s market value is expected to rise again. Ayew market value which currently stands at €3million has declined from €18million when the Ghanaian International was playing at West Ham United in 2016.

Ageing and demotions may have played a vital role in Ayew’s market value decline. The Al Sadd forward, now 31, has grown in terms of age, 5 more years since his West Ham days surpassing the period fantastic for top level football and moving from the English Premier League through Championship to Asian football are crucial to Ayew’s current €3million market value.

Barcelona’ interest is expected to causes a rise in market value and should Barcelona finally sign the Black Stars captain, Ayew’s market value may hit double figure amount again.

By extension, clubs in Europe major leagues will chase Andre Ayew in protracted Barca interest, and if Xavi’s side sign the the 31-year old, he may have a turn in career direction as previously enjoyed by the likes of Michael Essien, Samuel Eto’o, Didier Drogba and Emmanuel Adebayor who completes moves from less-demanded focal points to the elites again in (Essien from Chelsea to Real Madrid), (Eto’o from Anzhi Makhachkala to Chelsea), (Drogba from Galatasaray to Chelsea), (Adebayor from Manchester City to Real Madrid). it could be (Ayew from Al Sadd to Barcelona).

Once Barca continue to pursue Andre Ayew, his availability will be widen to camps of clubs in England, Spain, France, Germany and Portugal.

With Barca considering that move, Andre Ayew should keep and add to his form at Al Sadd and hope to it that the necessary things are done to make the story a reality. If Ayew wins by moving to Barcelona either this January or in summer, the whole of Ghana football wins when the 31-year old would then become the first player to join one of the greatest football clubs in the World, Barcelona.
