Crystal Palace eyeing Wilfried Zaha swap deal with AS Roma forward Felix Afena Gyan

Felix Afena-Gyan could switch from the Italian Seria A to the English Premier League this summer after Crystal Palace planning a move for the Ghanaian International.

Palace’s 12th place finish last season means they need to bring in some quality for improvement ahead of the 2022-2023 season.

After being linked with several players since the opening of this transfer window and having had a breakthrough in deals for Cheick Doucoure, Malcolm Ebiowei and Johnstone, Afena-Gyan is among the attackers Crystal Palace are willing to add to the ranks.

The 19-year old has become a rising star in Ghana football and enjoyed AS Roma breakthrough last season after being promoted from the youth team. His sensational turnaround in 17 Serie A appearances, two goals and played a role in the Roma’s inaugural Europa Conference League glory earns Afena-Gyan huge interest from numerous clubs ahead of this summer.

It’s understood that Inter Milan, Sassuolo, Udinese Calcio, US Salernitana and Serie A returnees Lecce have already been linked with a move for the Ghanaian International.

With Serie A clubs dominating in signing Felix Afena-Gyan, Crystal Palace are the first EPL club to show interest in attempt to complete the Roma attacker’s switch to the Premier League.

The Premier League has been a home for former Black Stars players Kevin-Prince Boateng, Sulley Muntari, Asamoah Gyan, John Paintsil, Baba Rahman, Christian Atsu and Salisu Mohammed in recent times. Afena-Gyan could follow the foot step of his country men.

With that coming after Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Crystal Palace have penciled down Felix Afena-Gyan on their shopping list and ready to pay 10-12M Euros for the AS Roma attacker.

He has further said the Premier League side will include the youngster in the deal that will see Ivorian International Wilfried Zaha move to Roma.

Afena-Gyan earned his maiden Black Stars call up in March, helping Ghana beat Nigeria in the playoff to qualify for the World Cup.

He has since scored a goal in six games for Ghana. He recently signed a long-term deal which will keep him at AS Roma until the summer of 2026.

Roma are said to listen to offers for the forward.
