Former Ghana U17 defender Najeeb Yakubu nets debut goal for Vorksla Portava in 1-1 draw against Mariupol

Najeeb Yakubu, a former Ghana U-17 International nets his debut goal for Vorksla Portava this season in weekend clash against Mariupol in Ukrainian Premier League.

Vorksla Portava made away trip to South Eastern to face Mariupol but a 74th equalizer last Saturday denied Green-Whites their first victory in four league games.

Yakubu failed to book a starting place in his team list but was on-substitute in early minutes of the second half before giving Portava the lead on 59th minute.

Unfortunately, the Green-Whites failed to hold on to their lead as they conceded a 74th minute equaliser, with the game eventually ending 1-1.

Najeeb’s performance against Mariupol is expected to earn him a starting place in Vorksla Portava’s next fixture against FC Dnipro on Friday June 19.

His goal against Mariupol is the Ghanaian’s second league goal for Portava  since joining the side in 2018.
