Kotoko Cameroonian prospects Mbella and Mfegue offered huge word of advise about fake football agents

Former Asante Kotoko striker, Ahmed Toure has advised the club’s Cameroonian duo, Frank Etouga Mbella and George Mfegue to stay with the club for long and shouldn’t fall for the deceitful mindset of some fake football agents.

They both joined the Porcupine Warriors prior to the start of the season from topflight sides AS Fortuna and Avion Academy respectively.
Frank Etouga Mbella has been sensational powering Kotoko to the summit of the league after the first round having notched 11 goals so far with two hatricks, making him the current top scorer in the Ghana Premier League.
However, his blistering performance per reports, has derived interests from some European clubs notably French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais.
Also, his countryman George Mfegue actually also started very well having decided some crucial matches for the ‘Kum Apem’ lads notably against Aduana Stars in Dormaa and Medeama SC in Kumasi.
In an interview on Kumasi-based Akoma FM, the ex- ASEC Mimosas star describes Kotoko as a lucrative club and has urged Mbella and Mfegue to establish a long career in Kumasi.
“I will advise Mbella and Mfegue to be patient. Playing for Kotoko is lucrative. You can get a whole lot from the supporters. They should not be deceived by agents who will promise to take them for greener pastures elsewhere. They should be focused. The circumstances of Yacouba’s exit was not the best. They should remain focused.”
They will all be available for selection against sworn rivals Hearts of Oak this Sunday at the Ohene Gyan Stadium.
When Kotoko signed Mbella and Mfegue
Two Cameroonian forwards George Rodrigue Mfegue Omgba and Mbella Etouga have reportedly joined Asante Kotoko from Ghana according to reports in Cameroon.

Both players have reportedly signed three year contract each as the club seek to replace their striker Kwame Opoku who joined USM Alger early this year.

Right after Mfegue’s deal completion, the Ghana Premier League giants have reached agreement to sign his compatriot Mbella Etouga from Fortuna Mfou who the two competed in Group A of the Cameroonian zonal league.

While Etouga’s Fortuna came superior on the league table, Mfegue emerged superior over his colleague in the top scorer pegging order. Mfegue scored 10 goals as Etouga managed two less in the Elite One championship.

The Porcupine Warriors’ search for a competent forward amid replacement for Kwame Opoku who departed for USM Alger in the second round of the Ghana Premier League dates to immediate Opoku’s departure to Algeria.

Kotoko have struggled to find the perfect man to lead their front line with the signing of Solomon Sarfo Taylor and Andy Kumi who were brought in as Opoku’s replacement hasn’t gone smooth as expected.

Though the two players showed signs of reaching top level in the later stages of last season but Kotoko thought crucial to bring in potent at least two forwards to bolster their chances for this season’s Ghana Premier League and FA Cup titles that eluded them to the rivals Hearts of Oak the last time.

The Kumasi based side entered into negotiations with Ugandan Revenue Authority for the signature of Steven Dese Mukwala as one of the two strikers they want to sign but differences over the right transfer fee has halted the deal with both teams separated from agreeing a deal for the Ugandan forward who emerged URA’s top scorer last season.

Though it’s understood that Steven Mukwala’s deal is not completely off which URA could soften their stance to get things underway, Kotoko have find interest in Cameroonian forward George Rodrigue Mfegue Omgba who is an emerging talent in Cameroonian football.

The 24-year old has been a revelation for not only his club Avion Academy but the whole of Cameroon after netting 10 goals last season to become the second highest top scorer in Cameroon elite championship.

Mfegue’s club Avion gained promotion to the Cameroonian Premier League in 2018 and the forward was an integral member to mastermind that achievement.

Mfegue has been the main man of Avion Academy for the last three years skipping and winning the club’s top scorer since 2018. Last season, Avion battled for a 7th position in Group A of Cameroonian zonal league with 11 clubs in each group.

Etouga’s Fortuna Mfou clinched the title in Avion’s group with 39 points, 11 victories out of 20 games. Avion then won 6 games, drew 5 and lost 9 in 20 games to surpass top clubs like Gragon de Yaounde, Union Douala and Eding Sport who qualified to play against Asante Kotoko in the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup.

However, Kotoko gained walk over to the next round after the Cameroonian side failed to show up in the prelims. Kotoko met and eliminated Kenyan side Kariobangi Sharks and later Coton Sport to enter into the group stages of the Confederation Cup three years ago.

Coton Sport also emerged champions of the Group B of the Cameroonian Elite One with 32 point from 9 victories. However, Coton Sport placed third in the final league competition where Avion fought for 14th place in final league permutations of 21 teams.

Coton Sport then defeated Fovu Baham in the semifinals before whipping APEJES 3-1 to win the 2020-2021 Elite One league of Cameroon.

Mfegue played crucial role in Avion’s 7th position finish in Group A of the zonal league netting 10 goals along the journey where Etouga netted 8 goals and 9 assists.

It’s understood that Cameroonian International Mfegue has scored a total 26 goals over the past three seasons for Avion.

Mfegue has reportedly signed a three year deal with Asante Kotoko having the Ghanaian side reached agreement with the Cameroonian outfit last Monday. The 24-year old forward came into Kotoko’s frame last month when an agent who has closely been working as a scout for the Ghanaian side alerted the club’s officials.

Having had view of his talent, they became convinced that Mfegue is one of the two strikers they knee on signing to lead the lines. The technical team have reportedly admired the Cameroon International and the Kumasi based side are expected to announce the transfer on Wednesday.

Mfegue will then fly to join his new teammates in Dubai for pre-season. Kotoko play against Dubai giants Al Hilal on Thursday but the Mfegue and Etouga may miss that game.

A report in Cameroon suggests that Etouga’s club have agreed undisclosed fee deal with Asante Kotoko as the player has signed a three year deal.
