Talking about Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu Latest Transfers Targets, Christopher Nettey, Gideon Waja, William Opoku Mensah and Imoro Ibrahim

Maxwell Konadu may already have bulk of players at his disposal after returning to the Ghanaian Champions last week. C.K Akunnor bounds Emmanuel Gyamfi, Wahab Adams, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu and Songne Yacouba who played big part in Kotoko well-done in the 2018 CAF Confederations Cup have been part of the club’s preparations under Johnson Smith, and most of Zachariassen’s squad still remain with the Porcupine Warriors despite early reports claiming the Porcupine are planning to axe many of these players

The Kotoko trainer can also boost of the number of players on his current injury list which has been cut down to only according to close medical report Godfred Asiamah who is still left injured.

Black Stars keeper Felix Anann, Abdul Ganiyu, Richard Senanu and Maxwell Baakoh have all stepped up their recoveries, and Baakoh who was referred to as “Little Messi” by most of the continent’s Pundits during Kotoko’s Confederation Cup campaign last year has been declared medically fit.

This gives Maxwell Konadu in terms of average talk a complete house to compete in the 2019-2020 football season, but the inclusion of his latest transfer targets Christopher Nettey, William Opoku Mensah, Imoro Ibrahim and Gideon Waja, who most of the targets have begun training with the 83 African Champions, will add absolute quality to Maxwell Konadu’s side.

Christopher Nettey

Christopher Nettey is on the shopping list of the Kotoko coach, and the right back made trip to Adako Jachie training complex yesterday to begin his weeks of trials with Asante Kotoko. The 21 year old is a graduate of Attram de Visser Soccer Academy in Accra, and appeared a new revelation for Great Olympics during his season-long loan stint with Oly boys.

He familiarized with Maxwell Konadu at Local Black Stars camp in 2019, and the Black Stars B coach grew fond of the right back despite failing to field the 21 year old in the 2019 WAFU tournament in Senegal.

The former Black Stars assistant coach already has Nettey at his heart, and can sign the right back on a three year deal at Asante Kotoko to compete Augustine Sefa at the right back position.

William Opoku Mensah

William Opoku Mensah is one of the three recommendations of Maxwell Konadu who began their trails with Asante Kotoko yesterday. Opoku Mensah joined American second-tier side Swope Park Rangers in March this year. The former Karela United goal poacher failed to register himself single appearance before seeing his contract terminated last month, returning to Ghana as a free agent.

But Maxwell is much aware of his exposure in the Ghana Premier League, netting 7 goals in 15 league appearance for Karela in the 2018 Ghana Premier League before switching camp for Swope Park Rangers. He had the best form of his career in the 2018 where he grabbed stunning 19 minutes hat-trick at home against Hearts of Oak in the 2018 Ghana Premier League.

The former Karela forward continues his trail with Asante Kotoko this afternoon and could secure a three year permanent deal before the start of the season, where reports claim that his has already agreed personnel terms with the Kumasi based side.

He is brilliant in creating spaces up front but he fall behind the thinking process of getting behind defenders, and that would be a hell of a problem especially if you have Collins Ameyaw, Maxwell Baakoh, Songne Yacouba playing behind you, who they prefer to play you through.

Imoro Ibrahim

Imoro Ibrahim scored two goals for Karela United in the never-ended 2018 Ghana Premier League and returned back to his parent club Bolga All Stars July this year.

The left back has appeared a latest transfer for target for Maxwell Konadu, where the defender impressed the Kotoko boss during the WAFU tournament in Senegal. The defender featured in all Ghana’s games until ending the tournament on a sad note after sustaining an injury against Burkina Faso in the quarter-finals.

The defender remains a free man and has begun trails with Asante Kotoko, hoping to secure a permanent deal with the Porcupines. He would have a tough competition from his replacement at the WAFU Patrick Yeboah at the left back when he fulfills his dream move to Kotoko.

Gideon Waja

Gideon Waja was one of the best midfielders in the Ghana Premier League before he made a one-time move to Toronto FC II in February 2018. But the Ghanaian midfielder has struggled in the USL League One, making only an assist in his 14 appearance in for the Canadian side.

The midfield ace has been monitored by Kotoko trainer even during the player’s days at Toronto FC. After dropping down to relaunch his career, Maxwell Konadu is tipped to offer the former Toronto man a big platform at Baba Yara, and is expected to begin a mini trails today Tuesday at club’s training complex.

All these players can add bit to Maxwell Konadu’s current squad, however, speaking frankly, the Porcupines trainer cannot afford to sign all the four targets at a go. But he can also not miss signing Gideon Waja if he choses to overlook some of his targets. The former WAFA player has in abode experience of Ghana Premier League and more importantly, with his ball keeping and penetrative passes qualities, would be a perfect replacement for veteran Jordan Opoku who left the club last month.
