Anthony Akumu happy to contribute to Kaizer Chiefs inspiring comeback against Polokwane City amid PSL title

Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Anthony Akumu opened his goalscoring account last Saturday to become the club’s 12th different player to find the back of the net this season.

Akumu, who arrived in Naturena in January from Zambian side Zesco United, has been slowly working his way into the Amakhosi setup, managing six appearances in all competitions thus far.

The lanky 27-year-old finally got off the mark with a tap-in goal that further sparked an impressive come-from-behind 3-2 win over Polokwane City last Saturday.

Lesiba Nku and Jabulani Maluleke drove Polokwane City to a 70’ minute 2-0 lead before Katsande, Akumu and Nurkovic completed Chiefs’ comeback.

Akumu has since reflected on his milestone that also saw him draw level with teammate Khama Billiat in as far as goals scored for the club this season is concerned.
