Dreams FC reportedly close in on move for Asante Kotoko defender Habib Mohammed

Asante Kotoko defender Habib Mohammed is heading to fellow Ghana Premier League club Dreams FC, according to reports.

It is understood that both clubs have reached an agreement in principle that will see switch campt to continue his career in Dawu.

He is expected to undergo a mandatory medical examination at Dreams Football Club. The deal could be done in the coming days.

Dreams made contact with Mohammed after Kotoko made it clear that he wasn’t in their plans for the upcoming season. The Ghanaian International is one of the Eight first team members fired by Kotoko last month amid their rebuilding project.

Meanwhile, Dreams FC who have become one of the best selling clubs in Ghana to Europe in recent times, knee on building a project that can help them enter into Ghana Premier League top four.

They understood their back line could cause them as reinforcement may be crucial. They have been linked with a couple defenders in Ghana but Habib now looks their preferred candidate.

Habib has also been linked with a move to Hearts of Oak, Aduana Stars and Bibiani Gold Stars FC who gained promotion to the Ghana Premier League last season.

It’s understood that these club’s couldn’t meet Kotoko demand in exchange for Habib’s signature before Dreams burst into the scene later.

The Dawu based side have had breakthrough in the deal though details of the transfer are still undisclosed which Dreams FC remain satisfy to make it unknown to the media.

The 24-year-old joined Kotoko from Ashgold in 2019 and his contract will expire in December this year. In order to avoid a situation where they gain nothing from the defender’s departure in December, Kotoko have decided to cash in as soon as possible with Habib heading to Dreams FC.

Habib played 22 league matches for Kotoko last season as they finished second behind Hearts of Oak in the title race. Habib played almost all matches in Black Meteors’ attempt to book a place in 2019 23-Afcon held in Egypt as qualification to last summer’s Olympic Games.

Ghana placed fourth after losing in third place game against South Africa as the later were joined by Egypt and Ivory Coast to Tokyo 2020.
