Match Report: Ebusua Dwarfs 0-1 Asante Kotoko as it happened, Ghana Premier League

Asante Kotoko climb to third place on the Ghana Premier League log after beating Ebusua Dwarfs in outstanding game in Cape Coast.

The record league winners have struggled in the start of the 2020/2021 season but have recently pulled themselves together going unbeaten since defeat to Olympics in December.

They traveled to central region to face Ebusua Dwarfs in outstanding fixture at the Cape Coast Stadium and managed to return to Kumasi with a slim victory.

Kotoko showed their intentions to cause a roller coaster on Dwarfs and with the Cape Coast based side becoming aware of that they defended resiliently to ensure the first ended goalless.

The first half draw wasn’t in a bid that Kotoko didn’t play good football. They did but Dwarfs were determined not to concede and somehow Kotoko too lacked the sharpen edge either.

Dwarfs did very well to contain the combinations of Fabio Gama and Kwame Opoku up front and that of Emmanuel Gyamfi and Patrick Asmah on the flanks.

Seemingly quite on the day, Kwame Opoku’s partner Gama was too difficult for Dwarfs to handle especially in the first half as the Brazilian won a couple of free kicks for the Porcupine Warriors but failed to convert them.

Dwarfs’ best chances came in the second half but at a time had Christopher Nettey and Yussif Mubarik becoming a stumbling block to their goal. The two defenders did well to clear Dwarfs’s one-on-one chances on one hand.

Whiles on the other hand, Dwarfs missed most of the chances too and were left to pay for that inside the middle of the second half when Christopher Nettey beat the defense line to head home Imoro Ibrahim’s free kick from the right flank.

Kotoko will face Aduana Stars on Sunday late kickoff whiles Dwarfs play against WAFA.
