TP Mazembe grab first league win of the season after beating JS Kinshasa  2-1 in Kinshasa

TP Mazembe have recorded their first victory in the Vodafone Ligue 1 after beating Jeunesse Sportive de Kinshasa 2-1 in a fiercely contested clash at Stade des Martyrs de la Pentecote on Wednesday afternoon.

Mazembe were crowned champions of Dr Congo Premier League last season in aftermath of canceling the 2019/2020 Vodafone Ligue 1.

However, the Ravens had saw their first two opening league games ended in draws, setting the reigning champions 9th on the league log before they headed into today’s victory.

The 2015 CAF Champions League winners had failed to score inside the 2020/2021 league campaign, having been held by Blessing to match-day 1 goalless draw in Lubumbashi before stretching second placed AS Vita Club to a 0-0 score line in match-day 2 of Vodafone Ligue 1.

Mazembe who played their third league game, defeated JSK to register their first win of the season, scoring double from proceedings before the home side pulled one back in the second half.

Ravens attacker Joel Beya struck twice to give his side a comfortable 2-0 lead inside first 16′ minutes but Jean Baleke beat Mazembe’s defense to head home a decent free kick from the right flank.

Mazembe will now face Motema Pembe on Sunday afternoon and leaders Maniema Union today’s week as quest to defend this season’s Dr Congo Premier League title begins.
