U-20 World Cup 2023- Adama Bonjang brace ensures Gambia pick first win in opener against Honduras

Gambia beat Honduras 2-1 in first Group F game of the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup taking place in Argentina. It was dramatic first half display leading to 2 quick goals in the first 5 minutes of the game with each team scoring.

Gambia went into the lead just 2 minutes before Honduras through Aceituno leveled 3 minutes later. Many thought it was going to be goal-free clash but it traveled to 83rd minute for the game to produce another game.

Bonjang restored Gambia’s lead in stoppage time as the Africans run away with first three points. Adama Bonjang’s brace was enough to seal Gambia’s 2-1 victory over Honduras.

South Korea lead the table with 3 points after beating France 2-1 in their first Group F game while Gambia sit second place.

The Africa reps will face France in match-day 2 and South Korea in last group game Sunday evening.

Premier League clubs Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the 18-year old forward.
