Chelsea interest enlightens Cristiano Ronald ahead of World Cup opener against Ghana

Ghana take on Portugal Thursday evening in what is the first game for both teams in the Qatar 2022 World Cup.

Ghana will be keening on a revenge on Portugal from Brazil 2014 defeat but the African side could still live suffer another heart-break if they don’t play their cards well tomorrow.

One of their biggest challenge in Thursday’s opener is to handle Cristiano Ronald who grabbed the winner against the Black Stars in Brazil 8 years ago. With or without Ronaldo’s start is a major threat to Otto Addo’s side and Ronaldo’s potential transfer could further dent Ghana’s hopes tomorrow.

The Manchester United forward appeared to be fading out in World football following a significant decline in his stats since his departure from Juventus and his controversial interview with Piers Morgan has greatly make him unpopular.

Following his interview, Ronaldo has seen his Manchester United contract terminated two days to his first game in the 2022 World Cup.

Ronaldo’s contract termination could have serve a big Ghana advantage but Ronaldo have reclaimed his big fish status in world football just two days after leaving Manchester United with Chelsea reportedly prepared to offer the Portuguese International a new challenge.

Chelsea launched the attempt to bring Ronald to Stamford Bridge last summer with new owner Todd Boehly who orchestrated the move that failed due to then boss Thomas Tuchel’s unwilling to work with the former Santiago Bernabeu superstar.

Ronaldo agent Jorge Mendes is said to interested in doing business with one of Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea and Ronaldo himself will completely like a move to London despite interest from his former club Sporting Lisbon.

The other side of the story that could have potentially demoralized Ronald in Thursday’s game against Ghana after Manchester United contract cancellation appears now a morale booster ahead of Black Stars clash after Chelsea chasing for Ronald’s services.

That is where Ghana need to be watchful of Cristiano Ronald in tomorrow’s Group H game. The 35-year old is a huge proven winner in European football after helping Manchester United and Real Madrid lift the UEFA Champions League.

Ronaldo has also clinched the Balloon d’Or five times and has been most successful under difficult situation like he is now heading into Ghana game.

With Ronaldo’s confidence boosted and demand at top level revived, Ghana has no option that to give him special tactical attention. It’s unclear with Cristiano Ronald will make the starting XI against the Black Stars.
